 Dry suit Diver Specialty Course

Wanna stay warm and toasty on a dive? Then dive dry. Yes! Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you off from the outside water and that keeps you warm! Even in surprisingly cold water. A dry suit is your ticket to a wider variety of dive sites, different marine life, longer dives and a year round dive season.

The PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course is a great way to introduce you to dry suit diving techniques under the guidance of our  PADI instructors. When you have the right cold water scuba diving attire, you can stand up to the elements and take advantage of the generally better visibility offered by winter months-especially at inland dive sites such as quarries, lakes, sinkholes and caves etc. As a dry suit diver, you’re equipped to go scuba diving on some of the world’s incredible dive sites in the world’s cooler regions that are best enjoyed in a dry suit even in their warmer months.

During this dry suit course you''ll gain the knowledge and skills to safely don, dive with, doff a dry-suit. Dry suit buoyancy control skills. Dry suit maintenance, storage and basic repair. Get introduced to the different types of suits and undergarment (fleece or overall-type garments worn under the dry suit) options. so you can make a very informed decision if considering purchasing a dry suit.

Practical skills you’ll master in this course

Dry suit familiarization, safety checks entry techniques, bubble check, buoyancy check, descent techniques.

Fin Pivot, hover, excess gas in feet emergency roll drill. Stuck inflator emergency drill, Stuck exhaust valve emergency drill. Ascent procedure, remove and replace scuba unit and weight belt on the surface. Exit techniques, removal of dry suit, storage and maintenance.

Course Content

The course consists of knowledge development, 1 confined water session and 2 open water dives which will cover:

◦The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of dry suit diving

◦Proper procedures for buoyancy control

◦Ascent & descent technique training

◦Routine, user-level, preventative maintenance and performance checks on dry suits

Knowledge Development

Knowledge Development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace. Home study is backed up by an academic session with a PADI Instructor, to ensure full understanding of dry-suit diving theory.

Confined Water Session

If you have never experienced dry suit diving or if it has been a while since your last dive you will be required to complete a confined water session. During this session you will learn how to use a dry-suit in the safe confines of a swimming pool prior to participating in the open water dives.

Open Water Dives

In the Mediterranean on the Costa Blanca students will complete 2 Open Water dives to certify as a PADI Dry Suit Diver.  Each dive has specific tasks designed to help students master buoyancy control and use of the dry suit whilst diving.
